Job Title: Lead Debt Collection Specialist
Location: Los Angeles
Reports To: Director of Finance
Type: Full-Time

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Lead Debt Collection Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in debt collection, proven leadership abilities, and a commitment to delivering results in a fast-paced environment. This role involves overseeing collection efforts, mentoring team members, and helping to refine and enforce collection strategies and policies.
 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead day-to-day account receivable activities, ensuring timely and effective recovery of outstanding debts.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for escalated or complex accounts.
  • Monitor and report on key performance indicators for the collections team.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, and support to collector specialists to improve performance and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and company regulations and policies regarding debt collection.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement improved collection strategies and workflows.
  • Maintain accurate records of collection activities and account status using internal systems.
  • Point of contact & query resolution for Key Accounts/ CMO’s (Charter Management Organization’s)

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a debt collection role.
  • Previous experience working for a debt collection agency or company strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of FDCPA and other relevant debt collection laws and regulations.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to handle difficult conversations professionally and effectively.
  • Experience leading a team or mentoring peers is a plus.
  • Proficient with excel
